1st Little Rockets World Championships

Welcome to the 1st Villars Little Rocket World Championships!

The very first alpine ski world championship exclusively for children aged 2.5 to 4.5 years old.

In a festive, fun, and 100% safe atmosphere, your little ones will participate in slaloms and fun courses designed for their age!

Supervised by their parents or professional instructors, on adapted slopes, the future stars of world skiing will experience their first competitions… with smiles, cuddly toys, and snowflakes.

Rules

Age Categories

Baby Rocket

2.5 to 3 years old (U3)

Mini Rocket

3 to 3.5 years old (U3.5)

Little Rocket

3.5 to 4 years old (U4)

Speedy Rocket

4 to 4.5 years old (U4.5)

Coaches or parents must provide proof of the child’s exact date of birth upon registration. (e.g., a child who is 3 years and 1 day old moves into the U3 category)

Scheduled Events

Each child can participate in 1, 2 or all 3 races:

Classic Giant Slalom on the "Stade de Bretaye" (Gentle Red Slope)

Wide gates, very accessible turns
Reduced length (10 to 19 gates depending on categories)
Maximum safety

Combi Race (Giant Slalom with obstacle). (Blue slope)

Course inspired by a giant slalom, with fun elements:

Tunnels
Arches
Small gentle bumps
Figures
Wide banked turns
Small jumps

Parallel Slalom (Blue Slope)

Two identical courses with 10 to 17 gates depending on categories.
A qualifying round followed by entry into the final bracket (Tennis style)
Final bracket: two-leg matches with direct elimination

General Flow

Course Inspection

Performed individually with an accompanying person (a parent, coach, or ski instructor)
Children must stay behind the accompanying person
Not allowed to go down alone or try the course
Bib number is mandatory

Starts

Starts approximately every 30 seconds for all 3 events

Runs

Giant Slalom and Combi Race:
- 2 runs (the best of the 2 runs counts for the ranking)
Parallel Slalom:
- 1 qualifying run followed by a direct elimination bracket with two-leg matches

Safety

Helmet and ski goggles mandatory
Skiboards prohibited
Back protector recommended
Designated braking zones
Safety nets, marked course
Parents and spectators must stay outside the marked area; children must be able to complete the course alone.

Rankings

For each race, a separate ranking is established with a title of (World Champion of the day’s race):

The overall ranking combines the sum of the results from the 3 races:

Points System

For each race:

1st = 100 pts
2nd = 80 pts
3rd = 60 pts
4th = 50 pts
5th = 45 pts
Then –5 pts per place (minimum 10 pts for all children)

The Overall Ranking World Champion is the child with the highest total points in their category.
